Awesome Book!!!!

The book was in good condition. There was a little bit of writing in the book, but nothing big and pencil was used. It's a great book. I needed it for a class, but I've recommended it to people that have a hard time choosing a career, need help with resumes and finding a job.

The most valuable career-development tool around!

I had taken a number of career definition tests in my career as an employment counselor (trying to figure out what was my true calling and how I could earn more money). Then I did the work in Michelozzi's book and came up with the scoring that indicated I would be good at counseling/social work (which I was already doing) or contract negotiations. I didn't even know what a contract negotiator was!
I discussed this outcome with my friend who worked at a large corporation. She introduced me to the head of their contracts department. I interviewed him and his staff about the work they were doing. They happened to have a trainee position open (which paid more than what I was getting as a counselor). Now, eighteen years later, I can truly say that Betty Michelozzi's book, Coming Alive from Nine to Five, is the one book which has completely turned my life around. I have loved almost every day of my changed career and I am far better paid at this work than I would e! ver have been as a counselor.
I recommend this book to all of my acquaintances who suspect it is time to change careers--and I recommend it to you. Thank you, Betty, for this truly wonderful opus!

Good for right and left brained...

This book is a well balanced text for all career searchers. It is filled with solid information, great exercises, humor, practical steps, and hope. I use it as a primary text for the Career Exploration, [Community College] class that I teach. It is also used at other institutions.
The text is currently in revision which will make it a 5 Star Text. I would recommend you purchase the new 7th edition, to be released this summer.

The writings of more than fifty authors and the artwork of eight artists manifest the nuanced complexity of what it means to be Tejana and how this identity offers alternative perspectives to contemporary notions of Chicana identity, community, and culture. Considering Texas-Mexican women and their identity formations, subjectivities, and location on the longest border between Mexico and any of the southwestern states acknowledges the profound influence that land and history have on a people and a community, and how Tejana creative traditions have been shaped by historical, geographical, cultural, linguistic, social, and political forces. This representation of Tejana arts and letters brings together the work of rising stars along with well-known figures such as writers Gloria Anzaldúa, Emma Pérez, Alicia Gaspar de Alba, Carmen Tafolla, and Pat Mora, and artists such as Carmen Lomas Garza, Kathy Vargas, Santa Barraza, and more. The collection attests to the rooted presence of the original indigenous peoples of the land now known as Tejas, as well as a strong Chicana/Mexicana feminism that has its precursors in Tejana history itself.

Inés Hernández-Ávila is a professor of Native American studies at the University of California, Davis. She is one of the founders of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association.

Norma Elia Cantú is a professor of Latina/ Latino Studies and English at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She is the founder of the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa and cofounder of CantoMundo, a place for Latin@ poets and poetry.

What an amazing collection of literature and art by great Texas women authors with Mexican American heritage. Love the range of authors, topics, and artists. This is a must-own and makes a great gift too. Impeccable quality. The price is also amazing, considering that there is some full-color art by established and new artists.

A must for every fingerpicker's library!

This is a great book for anyone looking to expand their arsenal of fingerstyle tunes. If you play professionally or just like playing at home, Peter's book will inspire and challenge you. It is full of accurate and legible transcriptions that not only sound great, but serve as a model for arranging solo guitar music. Enjoy!

Great Fingerstyle Songbook

Really like this songbook! Quality tabs for all the songs. If you like his songs (you can see a lot of them on YouTube) and want to learn to play, this is a great book to buy! The only thing that could make this better is if it came with a CD. Love the version of 'Tis So Sweet.
